Whether you are experiencing the greatest joy of your life or are pushing through some tough times, there is always something to be grateful for. January is National Thank You Month and a fitting time to express appreciation.
There are a lot of ways to show gratitude other than just saying thank you. Some people receive and give appreciation through gifts, service, and positive notes. Others need quality time or a good, warm bear hug. How you give thanks depends on the closeness of your relationship with others as well as your personality.
Gifts of Thanks
You might be a gift-giver when you feel gratitude toward someone or something. Food in the form of a home-cooked meal or a decadent baked good can be a personal expression of gratitude. Some people express their thanks by feeding whole groups of people, but others show their thankfulness by giving smaller tokens, such as a piece of cake or a cup of coffee.
Treating a person to lunch or dinner is also a grateful gesture. If you have a skill, such as drawing, painting, writing poetry, woodworking, or more, you can share your handiwork to give a gift from the heart.
You can also give gifts of service. If you have a knack for cars or home repairs, you could give someone a gift certificate for some free work next time they need a hand.
If you are looking for ways to thank your customers, you can do so with custom hats, including snapbacks and beanies, that bear your company logo. When you give these items out as thank-you gifts to customers, they serve as great advertisements for your company while helping your customers feel appreciated and excited to receive a personalized bonus from your company.
The Gift of Understanding
Another way to show gratitude is to talk with other people, especially those who seem troubled or in need of a friend. Listening is a valuable skill that is difficult to come by and takes a lot of practice to perfect. Listening shows that you care about a person, and it creates feelings of empathy. Sometimes all that a person needs is for someone to listen to and understand them.
Give a Compliment
Giving genuine praise is a dying art. A sincere compliment does not require any embellishment, but unfortunately, a lot of people perceive compliments as sarcasm. For kudos to be heard and understood as an uplifting note, it has to apply to the person and the situation. It has to be more than just a generic “good job.”
Start a compliment with an introduction, explaining what you saw the other person do or exemplify. Describe your admiration for their actions. Include a heartfelt thank you, and speak using a sincere tone of voice.
As you seek to share your gratitude for your co-workers, customers, and loved ones, you’ll find many different ways to express your thanks.
And speaking of thanks, all of us at Acme Hat Co are feeling very thankful this month for our great customers. We want to offer our genuine gratitude to you for contributing to our successes. You’ve quickly made us a leading source for fine custom hats, snapbacks, and beanies. Thank you for making this such a rewarding year for us. We look forward to serving you in 2019.
