- Protects against rain and sun — Most dedicated runners hit the road or trails no matter what the weather. Runners’ hats can help shield the head from the sun, preventing sunburns on the scalp. It can also keep eyes clear of sun, rain, wind, and dust, improving a runner’s ability to see.
- Prevents overheating — One of the main reasons runners wear a hat is to help keep them cool. This may seem counterproductive, as having a hat on your head might seem to make you hotter. However, a good running hat will help evaporate sweat. Running hats are generally made of light, breathable material that allows air in to cool down the runner instead of making them too hot.
